Couture also sells laminate and ceramic The Boerne-based flooring business operates out of a 15,000-square-foot facility that includes a showroom, warehouse and officew space. Since opening in the spring of 2006, Coutured has grown steadily. In 2006, the companyh recorded revenuesof $1.2 million, and in 2007 that figurw nearly doubled to $2.2 million. Last year Couture posteed revenueof $2.5 million and is on tracm to hit the $3 million revenued mark for 2009, according to its owners. “Ij these times when things are really tough and economi issues are allaround us, we have a family owned business that’s actually thriving,” Sonja Mazour says.
“Customers are wanting to invest in the home theyhave now. If they aren’yt wanting to move or sell, they’re going to fix up what they have by paintinb the walls or putting innew carpet.” Majeticnh credits Couture’s success to the company’s commitmeng to measuring its business on all levels. The ownerx set expectations for each segment of their busines and take stock of theprogress daily, weekly, monthly and adjusting expectations as business “The data we use to measure the business allowsx us to be proactivew and not reactive,” Majetic says. “Customer experience is everything.
We cater to the customer throughou t the selection and orderinvg process while ensuring a quality installationand post-sale follow-up. Succesds is measured by satisfaction.” Couture Floorsa employs a number of people in sales positionz who had little or no prior flooringy experience prior to joiningthe company. A large numberf of them are wome who worked in management in the retai l sector or sold cosmetics for a living prior to being hiredfby Couture. Sonja Mazour says some people thought they were crazu for hiring people with noflooriny experience.
“When you look at the flooring industry, market researcb shows that 90 percent of the people buying flooringvwere women,” she says. “They may briny their husband to lookat it, but the women were they were making the decision. So we had to get to the decisionb maker.” Couture’s owners focused on hirin sales people who were going to relate or communicate best to the key person determining the fashion ofthe home.
“Peopler spend a lot of moneuy ontheir flooring, so we felt it was key to have peoplee working the floor our customers could relater with,” Sonja Mazour Majetich says the strateghy has been successful “because walking in, peopled are comfortable because they’re talkingy to someone like them.” “We’re not the cheapest, but we’re goin to give customers the best experience,” he adds. Jed Mazouf and Majetich run the business dayto day, assurinf customer service is at the level expected.
Mick and Sonja Mazour completse the partnership by providing their support in managingy the finances and building a strategy road map forthe company’e operations. “The key is relationship,” Jed Mazourr says. “You can advertise so many differenf ways, but the bottom line is referrak business. If you do something really righ t for someone and make themreally they’re going to tell several That’s customer service and you’ve got to sell that.
” Theres Dimaio, an interior designedr who had Couture Floors renovate her found the company to be very professionao and prompt while offering a fair “There was a lot of flooring and they workedr with me to do the job,” Dimaii says. “They know what they’re doing, know their wortb and they carry a lotof high-end Adds Carl Nelson, purchasing agent at Trinity Custom Builders. “With them, there’sd smooth sailing doing high quality work.” Janet who had Couture Floorxs replace all ofher carpeting, says it was the best experiences she has had. “I couldn’t ask for better from storefrontto installation,” Free says.
“I f I ever get another I’ll have them pull out all the carpef and installmy floors.” Majetich says the company is living up to its bran d name, which was his wife’a idea. “Couture is a term for high fashion or both of which apply to what we do and how we do Majetich says. “Our concentration is customer service, and we want peoplwe to enjoy buyingfrom us.”
